The Vagus Nerve: The Answer To Reducing Stress and Chronic Disease | Stefan Chmelik

Podcast

Show Notes:

This conversation will discuss stress in a way you have never heard before, and will make you think about it in a completely different context.

We've all heard of the fight or flight response, which is an automatic physiological reaction to an event that we perceive to be stressful or frightening. When this happens, our adrenal glands release the hormone adrenaline to help us either fight or flight, and it's long been thought this is the only way we deal with stressful situations.

However, in today's conversation with Stefan Chmelik, we learn that the musculoskeletal system plays a huge part in the response too. He discusses how our body produces a protein hormone called osteocalcin, which is actually perhaps the most important fight or flight mediating hormone.

In this fascinating conversation, you will also learn:

  • The true meaning of the mind-body connection

  • Why some people get better whilst others don't

  • What it means to be ‘anti-fragile’ and how to achieve this

  • And much more…

We all know stress is a problem in our modern-day environments - but have we been looking at stress wrong? It seems to be something we can’t escape, but I hope the episode helps you better manage it.
